What to expect at your first visit

The consultation
The visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms and your medical history.

The examination
The specialist examines the ear, nose and throat, usually with an otomicroscope or endoscope. If an assessment of your hearing is required, audiological tests such as audiometry and tympanometry can be carried out during the same visit.

Explanation and plan
At the end you receive an explanation of the findings and the plan for the next steps.
Please bring with you any previous medical reports, test results or a list of the medicines you are taking.
In urgent cases
For persistent nosebleeds, severe breathing difficulties, sudden hearing loss or a foreign body in the airways, go immediately to the nearest emergency service. These conditions should not wait until the next available appointment.
